Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director, Alumni Networks – Boca Raton, FL.

The Assistant Director, Alumni Networks will lead all alumni network engagement and growth initiatives within the Alumni and Community Engagement team as well as engagement with other key programs aligned with strategic priorities for the department.

Building a culture of philanthropy and dedication across all current and future alumni network communities will be a large emphasis of this role. Additionally, identifying new and maximizing current network initiatives internally and externally to enhance the experience of volunteer leaders and network members. This position will include other duties as assigned to support the University, Division, Alumni, and Community Engagement as a whole.

This role is pivotal for the continued growth and engagement of the Florida Atlantic community. The ideal candidate should be passionate about fostering relationships, building a framework and foundation for alumni network success, and ensuring continued growth and sustainability across all current and future networks.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

Alumni Networks:

  • Directs all FAU Alumni network operations and initiatives for 29 alumni networks and future alumni networks (including location-based, affinity-based, and professional affiliations).

  • Recruit, train, and direct approximately 100+ regional/out-of-state volunteers for network leadership positions.

  • Align volunteer efforts with Alumni and Community Engagement’s strategic planning goals for engagement with key groups, including young alumni, location-based, affinity, and professional affiliation groups.

  • Create and implement standard operating procedures for FAU Alumni networks, including budgets, sponsorships, community partnerships, brand representation/guidelines, social media, and volunteer roles and responsibilities.

  • Identify FAU Alumni network opportunities in collaboration with team members based on geographic location, interest or affinity, and professional affiliations. Identify where target populations are and work with key alumni and/or community partners to maximize engagement in those areas.

  • Support and oversee all FAU Alumni network events and activities in coordination with leadership volunteers and team members across Florida Atlantic and internal to the department.

  • Develop and implement marketing plans to acquire and sustain FAU Alumni network engagement.

  • Oversee all FAU Alumni network communication initiatives in coordination with leadership volunteers and staff.

  • Draft and review a large volume of invitations/communications and other promotional materials in support of FAU Alumni network events.

  • Maintain the FAU Alumni network guidebook, website, and any other areas to ensure all information is up to date and effectively communicated and followed by volunteer leaders and members.

  • Travel to location-based FAU Alumni network events to engage with volunteer leaders and build relationships across Florida and other states.

  • Via the FAU Alumni networks, communicate about notable alumni, bring in board priorities and liaisons, and maximize the network's strategy for the department.

Sponsorships and Partnerships:

  • Work with sponsorships and partnerships staff lead and volunteer leaders to identify community partners for sponsorship/trade partnership opportunities to assist with offsetting network costs and building community relationships to support FAU Alumni network initiatives.

Data and Finances:

  • Ensure data integrity through weekly and monthly tracking and reporting of FAU Alumni network initiatives in coordination with advancement services.

  • Use data-informed strategies to drive decision-making and to allocate resources for the greatest possible impact.

  • Oversee and maintain all volunteer and member data to ensure information is up to date.

  • Track the network's budget and finances, such as expenses related to FAU Alumni network initiatives and purchases.

Technology Management:

  • Administer platforms like Active Campaign, RENXT/Classic, Blackbaud, and Hivebrite portal for network members.

  • Utilize platforms like Canva to generate network-based content.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

  • Travel to visit with prospects and volunteers and facilitate events.

  • Collaborate with and support a variety of partners on and off campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in marketing advancement/development and/or alumni relations.

Salary:

$60,000 - $70,000 per year.
