FAU Student Activities & Involvement is seeking an Associate Director of Student Activities.
Reporting to the Director of Student Activities and Involvement, the Associate Director of Student Activities assists both staff and student leaders in the planning, development and implementation of programs and activities related to the Student Government, Council of Student Organizations (COSO), Graduate and Professional Student Association and registered student organizations. In addition, this position reviews and approves student travel notifications, as well as advising select student government entities and providing administrative oversight to select student government entities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Administration & Supervision
Supervise, train and evaluate SAI professional staff members, including one Assistant Director, and one office manager. Assist in ensuring that goals and objectives for the department and university are communicated and achieved.
Serve as the primary liaison with Campus Labs for the continued development of Owl Central.
Assist with oversight of Student Government travel policy, procedures, and implementation.
Assist with the development and execution of the unit’s strategic plan.
Represent the Director in their absence.
Support & Leadership
Collaborate with other departments on RSO major trainings and events such as, but not limited to: Hazing Prevention Summit; Cultural Competence Training; Leadership Training; and RSO Advisor training and informational sessions.
Work to ensure RSO officers are well aware of ASAB procedures and develop an accountability plan to ensure compliance.
Assist with UBAC and CBAC preparations and be available to attend budget presentations and deliberations in the absence of the Director.
Participate in orientation sessions by promoting programs and services within Student Activities and Involvement.
Review, approve, and ensure timely submission of student government officers’ travel and lodging arrangements.
Serve as the advisor to select student government entities and work to maintain a collaborative climate among students; this includes attending student government meetings.
Assist with organizing, developing, and facilitating student leadership training programs for student government officers.
Serve as a liaison between FAU partner campuses and university wide student government programs.
Support, attend, and participate in university-wide, division-wide, functional team, and departmental events including, but not limited to: presidential and vice presidential events, staff development, planning retreats, assessment workshops, phone-a-thons, and committees; this may include evenings and weekend commitments and travel to partner campuses.
Perform other related duties assigned by the Director of Student Activities and Involvement.
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
