Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Budget Analyst – Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities include:

  • Assists in the development, implementation and daily management of the University's $750M million annual operating budget.

  • Independently applies expert use of Excel; collects data and obtains extracts from the University’s ERP system and refreshes all data in the budget software each year.

  • Serves as team member responsible for approving new budgetary funds and organizations, maintaining hierarchy of funds/organizations, and establishing/maintaining the budgetary structure and coding of individual budget funds and accounts to facilitate reporting and controls in accordance with standards and University needs.

  • Establishes effective communications systems with relevant departments for ongoing updates.

  • Works closely with University financial managers to understand their needs and recommend solutions to emerging issues relative to Position Control and Budgetary Account Control guidelines and departmental needs.

  • Develops and provides training to and solicits input from University users. Recommends improvements in the University’s interests and implements approved changes.

  • Reviews and approves revenue and expenditure transactions, applies judgment, and makes decisions in budgetary matters on behalf of the Budget Office as delegated by the Budget Director and in compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Analyzes information and results and prepares high-quality financial, budgetary, and narrative reports and presentations. Provides in-depth variance, sensitivity, and relevant statistical analysis. Develops summary and itemized forecasts, working collaboratively with individuals throughout the University to obtain timely forecasts and updates. Develops financial models for planning and decision-making.

  • Actively partners with and serves as a resource to University-wide financial managers in the preparation and management of their respective revenue and expenditure budgets. Responds to questions concerning budgetary policies and procedures. Develops good working relationships throughout the University.

  • Recommends and develops procedures to foster compliance with sound budgeting/accounting standards, policies, practices, regulations, and laws. Develops and delivers informational materials to strengthen University-wide expertise.

  • Prepares high-quality presentations for use by the Budget Director, Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs, or the CFO, including Board-level presentations.

  • Serves on and supports shared governance committees, recruitment committees, and ad hoc task forces. All other responsibilities as assigned/requested.

  • Actively works with the Team on BOG data file submissions, including Operating Budget, Expenditure Analysis, SCD, and other BOG data requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience required.

Salary:

$56,231.00 per year.
