Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Coach of On-Campus Experiences - Boca Raton, FL.

The Career Center supports Florida Atlantic students, alumni, and employer partners in building toward meaningful careers and a successful future. Through our collective efforts, students and alumni will become meaningfully employed and launch a pathway toward a prosperous career.    As a Career Coach of On-Campus Experiences , this role develops, organizes, and delivers programs to enhance and support student employment and career readiness of students. This position is responsible for the effective operation and administration of a wide variety of activities, services, and programs that promote student development and enhance the Florida Atlantic student life experience. This position also requires coordination and collaboration of university departments to determine needs and priorities, and comply with university, campus, and departmental policies and procedures. The Career Coach of On-Campus Experiences may regularly supervise student workers, volunteers, or other university staff to meet program requirements.

Summary of Responsibilities:   Student Affairs Employment Coordination:

  • Creates programs and workshops to meet with students to assist students in securing on-campus and part-time employment or internships following guidelines of FWS & potential visa restrictions.

  • Coordinates the Student Employment Workgroup team for the Division of Student Affairs.

  • Facilitates training workshops for student employees to highlight the professionalism and career readiness skills acquired in on-campus employment and how to include the experiences in resumes and interviews.

  • Craft training and directional guides (in-person, online, and print) regarding student employment recruitment and hiring procedures.

  • Serve as the liaison between Student Affairs HR Partners for all student employment questions regarding posting jobs on Handshake, recruiting students, & rules/regulations.

  • Plan and execute on-campus hiring events and/or interviewing event(s) to assist in student recruitment for on-campus offices.

  • Provide career readiness trainings and presentations to student employees through established campus collaborations with on-campus partners.

  • Develop and provide supervisor trainings for those that supervise student employees.

  • Plans and hosts targeted recruitment and National Student Employment Week (NSEW) events.

  • Collaborates with Student Engagement to include Student Employee of the Year in any annual awards.

  • Review on-campus job descriptions to ensure they have the career skills included and how they are obtained through the position.

  • Create and implement a standardized student employment evaluation process.

  • Requests, pulls, and creates reports for the Career Services team including Job Location Development (JLD) and other on-campus reports.

  • Serve as the liaison between key Student Affairs departments regarding student employment, such as the Financial Aid Work Study team, International Student Services .

      Student Services & Outreach:

  • Meet with students for appointments on job and internship search, practice interviews, resume/cover letter writing, and current student employees on career development.

  • Arrange event/program logistics in support of Career Center programs & services.

  • Promote career exploration and Career Center services by delivering presentations to classes, student groups, and during new-student orientation.

  • Assist with the Owls Professional Clothes Closet in marketing the closet to students and community members. ​

  • Respond to all office inquiries via phone and email regarding Career Center services, questions, events, and appointments for students, employers & external constituents.

  • Serve on divisional committees and contribute to divisional initiatives and programs.

    Supervision of Student Employees:

  • Supervises student employee staff members, including scheduling of work shifts, one-on-one meetings, distribution of work, a nd performance evaluations.

  • Assists with the selection, training, and supervision of student employees from Federal Work Study & temporary student employment. Assists with training and onboarding of Career Center student employees.

  • Assignment of duties, event roles, and projects based on office needs.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
