Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Registered Dietitian - Boca Raton, FL

Summary of Responsibilities:

The department of FAU Student Health Services is seeking a registered dietitian. Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Medical Officer for Student Health Services, the registered dietitian provides nutrition expertise and guidance at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). The registered dietitian is a critical role among a multidisciplinary care team that promotes student success and personal development. This includes dental, primary care, psychiatry, and psychology. The dietitian may also work with campus partners such as the recreation and fitness center, athletics department, and Owl Care Health Promotion.

  • Perform nutrition assessment for a wide range of conditions including but not limited to eating disorders, disordered eating, IBS, IBD, hypertension, diabetes, mindful and intuitive eating, and weight management.

  • To use current nutrition and dietary principles to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) both in person and/or via telehealth.

  • Provide a patient specific comprehensive treatment plan.

  • Provide culturally competent, evidenced-based nutrition education and counseling to the FAU community.

  • Charts appropriately in the electronic health record using the standardized Nutrition Care Process consistent with the registered dietitian’s Scope of Practice.

  • Completes charts on time within the standards of the clinic’s EMR policy.

  • Identify patients who may need to be referred to the medical team or require higher level of care.

  • Collaborate and communicate with the medical and psychiatric team on mutual patients.

  • Participate as a member of the Eating concerns treatment team by collaborating with counselors, medical staff, and community eating disorder clinics for evaluation and treatment of students with eating disorders.

  • Assist with the review and development of policies and procedures as they relate to nutrition and in accordance with our accreditation through AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care).

  • Participate in peer review and quality improvement initiatives.Responsible for maintaining active state and national license with continued education credits.

  • Participate in outreach and tabling events, representing FAU SHS.

  • May be involved in supporting campus-wide health and wellness campaigns through collaboration with key university stakeholders.

  • May be asked to give targeted presentations on a wide array of nutritional topics to members of the FAU community.

  • May be involved in working with clients at the recreation and fitness center.

  • May be involved in working with clients at the Athletics department.

    Quality Management Improvement (QMI):

  • Chair the QMI Committee and oversees the program.

  • Provide a systematic, standard approach to quality to the University students, staff, and faculty.

  • Develop and utilizes electronic methods of data collection, gathers, processes and analyzes data to create reports, charts, and graphs.

  • Works closely with the CMO and team on peer reviews and quality improvement projects.

  • Oversees quality improvement studies, quality improvement activities, and benchmarking.

  • Collaborate with and share data with management and administration for data trends and benchmark improvement opportunities, to support quality assurance and performance improvement measures, and to evaluate compliance with established standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in emphasizing quality and implementation of system improvements with best practices.

  • Assists in coordinating between management and patient care consistent with the SHS mission and goals.

  • Assists with other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Salary:

$58,000 - $62,000 per year
